Amanda is a consultant with over 20 years of experience in education. She has served as a high and middle school teacher, teacher lead, assessment and curriculum coordinator, and testing coordinator while working in public and private schools. Amanda has also worked in adult education, where she supported adults of all ages in earning their GED certificates.
After earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland at Eastern Shore in biology, she went on to earn her Master of Education, Administration and Supervision from Bowie State University. Amanda is currently a doctoral candidate at Walden University. She is preparing to conduct her research on writing pedagogy training and how teachers include writing in their lessons.
Amanda holds an advanced teacher certificate in biology (grades 6-12), special education, and health education. Amanda also is certified in administration I (vice principal) and II (principal).
Amanda was first elected to public office in 2014. She is currently serving her third term in office. Amanda has since founded her own consulting practice and continues to serve on a number of local educational, social, and legislative organization boards. During her spare time, Amanda loves to read. Her love for reading began at an early age and has culminated in her writing her first children's book, Dasiy for President. Amanda lives in southern Maryland with her husband and son.
Alvin Stewart is a local small business owner (Patrell Cleaning Solutions, LLC) and manages a well-known company, Starbucks. Alvin's years of management and owning his own business have allowed him to help many Charles County residents. Alvin supports economic development by providing jobs. Alvin not only creates jobs, he regularly gives to non-profit organizations and schools.
Alvin was elected to the Charles County Democratic Central Committee (CCDCC) during the June 2018 primary election for a four-year term. Alvin currently serves as Chairman on the CCDCC. Stewart is a board member of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of several Charles County Democratic Clubs and the Charles County NAACP.
Alvin is a co-founder of Reach One Touch One, Inc. A non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the lives of all. Stewart became president of Rebuilding Together, Charles County (RTCC) (formally known as Christmas in April, Charles County) in 2015. RTCC assists low-income Charles County residents by fixing their homes.
Alvin is a dedicated community leader who encourages people to attend and participate in democratic fundraisers, get-out-the-vote activities, and meet-and-greets. Alvin hosts democratic get-to-gathers and fundraisers to help support elected officials.
He works with community leaders to help promote democratic values. Alvin served as the campaign manager for the 2014 Elect Amanda Stewart campaign and political strategist on Commissioner Stewart's successful 2018 and 2022 campaigns. He is especially focused on volunteering and community political involvement. Alvin lives in Waldorf with his wife, Amanda Stewart, Charles County Commissioner, and their son.
